About Sunshine Group
The Sunshine Group is a boutique hospitality and experiences collective based on Zanzibar’s northeast coast and beyond — where authentic luxury meets untouched nature.
From cliff-top retreats and palm-garden havens to white-sand beaches and Tanzanian safaris, each brand is carefully curated to deliver immersive, sustainable travel.
With five pillars — ocean, beach, reef, lodge and safari — the group weaves a seamless tapestry of East African discovery, comfort and conservation.
Gaia Safari
Sunshine Group’s DMC arm creates bespoke Tanzania journeys: private game drives, walking safaris, luxury transfers, eco-mobile camps, cultural village visits and gourmet bush dining — seamless adventures led by expert naturalists.
Dive Point Zanzibar
With two PADI 5-Star centres in Matemwe and Nungwi, Dive Point Zanzibar offers Scubapro gear, a 2-metre training pool, five dive boats and multi-lingual instructors. Its “Linda Bahari” coral nursery project champions reef restoration and marine conservation
Sunshine Marine Lodge
Perched on Matemwe’s cliffs, this 28-room retreat offers an infinity pool, two freshwater pools, two open-air yoga pavilions and a sea-view restaurant. Room categories span Deluxe Oceanfront and Ocean-View Suites to garden-facing Family Suites, ensuring both expansive sea vistas and tranquil green outlooks.
Sunshine Bay
Tucked within coconut groves on a private white-sand beach, its 16 Garden, Partial-Ocean and Ocean-View Suites surround three lagoon-style pools, a sea-view restaurant and the Ngalawa Bar. A shuttle connects guests to Marine Lodge’s cliff-top panoramas.
Sunshine Azure
Set on an untouched beachfront in Matemwe, Sunshine Azure’s 16 air-conditioned rooms — including Honeymoon and Family Suites — invite barefoot luxury. Two infinity pools gaze over the palm-fringed shore, while the beachfront restaurant and bar serve coastal-inspired dishes and craft cocktails. Azure’s calm ambience and direct access to Dive Point’s snorkelling and diving packages make every stay a restorative escape.

The Underwater World of Mnemba Atoll (Zanzibar)
Off Zanzibar’s north-eastern coast lies Mnemba Atoll – an underwater paradise bursting with vibrant coral reefs and exceptional biodiversity. Divers and snorkellers encounter playful dolphins, graceful sea turtles, and schools of colourful reef fish. With 36 recorded genera of hard corals, Mnemba ranks among the Indian Ocean’s hotspots for coral diversity.
Iron Claws: Coral and Marine Conservation Projects – Our own Reef Nurseries
Zanzibar is pioneering coral nurseries to restore damaged reefs – using metal frames that stand like iron claws in the sea, nurturing new life. These projects unite the expertise of scientists, the commitment of local fishermen, and the support of the tourism sector. The result is a model for sustainable marine conservation that safeguards not just corals, but entire ecosystems.
Yoga and Wellness – A Growing Health Tourism Trend
Between swaying palms and the Indian Ocean, travellers find perfect retreats for body and mind. Folklore or Added Value: Zanzibar’s Cuisine and Culinary Traditions
Zanzibar’s cuisine is a melting pot of Arabian spices, Indian flavours, and African roots – a culinary map shaped by centuries of trade and cultural exchange. Markets brim with the scent of freshly ground clove, cinnamon and cardamom, while pots simmer with coconut, seafood and tropical fruit. A rising restaurant scene is reinterpreting these traditions, attracting food lovers from across the globe.
