A Heart for Sharks: The most creative selfie with “Harry the Hammerhead” at Sam’s Tours booth wins dream vacation
At this year’s BOOT Show in Dusseldorf, Palau’s premier dive centre, Sam’s Tours, invites visitors to participate in a social media event at Booth E74 in Hall 3 to learn more about the world’s first official shark sanctuary and the need to protect these apex predators.
Koror/Munich, December 15, 2016 – Palau’s reputation as one of the world’s best dive destinations of the Pacific Island nations is largely owing to its intact shark population; it is also one of the main reasons European divers fly half-way around the world for an amazing encounter with these elegant animals in their natural habitat.
To change the public’s perception of sharks and promote a more accurate understanding of the critical role these apex predators play in keeping our oceans healthy and in balance, Sam’s Tours Palau is organizing a social media event at the 48th BOOT Show from January 21-29, 2017 in Dusseldorf. To stand a chance to win a dream vacation in Palau, visitors are invited to take a selfie with shark “Harry the Hammerhead”, at Booth E74 in hall 3 with their own smartphone; then upload the photo to their own Facebook or Instagram account and tag it with #samstoursboot2017, #harrythehammerhead, #samstourspalau, and #palaupacificresort. The top prize is seven nights‘ stay at the luxurious Palau Pacific Resort in Palau and five days of diving with Sam’s Tours Palau. Runner-ups stand to win vouchers for ten and five days of diving with Sam’s Tours Palau.
“The protection of sharks is particularly dear to us at Sam’s Tours. Fortunately, the president of Palau, Tommy E. Remengesau, shares the same passion and has been making every effort possible to protect these assets critical to the dive tourism. But we also know that the general public have a negative image of sharks and thus it is important to correct these attitudes and misunderstandings; that’s why we want to take every opportunity to educate and convey a positive image of these animals that play a vital role in the ocean’s ecosystem.” says Marc Bauman, Director of Sales & Marketing, Sam’s Tours Palau.
